How can fostering a sense of patriotism in young people benefit or harm our future society?

A sense of patriotism is good in the sense that it can make people want to better our country and not take action against anyone or anything in this country while giving people something to connect over. On the flip side, it can cause people to blindly trust politicians and foster hate for people not included in this patriotism.

I think some people become too obsessed with America that they become close minded and arent respectful to other backgrounds and that could cause issues in our country.
