They are the native people of Palestine, not "Israel". Bombing, assassinating, torturing, and displacing said native people is textbook colonization. The idea of Zionism sounds great on paper, however in practice it is malicious in nature. Palestinians have been open to living in harmony with Jewish people, so anti-Semitism is not the issue as Israel wants people to believe.
The issue is that Israel has no intention of living in harmony with Palestinians, but to instead wipe them from existence and claim their land, their culture, and their history as their own. We've seen the exact same thing happen throughout history with other Native peoples all over the world. It is born from greed and racism; the idea that people of Caucasian descent are more "pure" than Native people, that they must "civilize them". We've seen this in the Americas, South Africa (all throughout Africa also), and the Holocaust; just to name a few. These are simply excuses to perform atrocities on people they deem inferior.
Anti-Arab rhetoric has been used to allow the west to take over the land and resources from native people all throughout the Middle East. Israel has done a fairly decent job at deceiving people using their fears of immanent threats and injustices such as the Holocaust and anti-Semitism which still plagues our society; however, this does not mean the state of Israel genuinely cares of such things.
Israel is a settler-colonial state the western powers (the U.S. and U.K.) have used to gain political power over the Middle East. Israel is nothing but a successful business move created by greedy business people who do not care about human lives.
Many Jewish people have been against Israel since its inception, and even more so now over the past few months. The issue is not Judaism nor has it ever been, do not misunderstand me. The issue is Zionism. Palestinians have proposed a two-state system for many many years, however the prime minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu has refused to comply with this. Why? Because he has no, and never has had, any intention of living in peace with the Palestinian people; he wants to completely wipe them out of existence. This is the reason why Israel has been killing and displacing Palestinians since 1948. It is the reason over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed over the past 5 months. It is the reason Israel has bombed 20 out of 22 hospitals in northern Gaza alone. It is the reason Israel told the Palestinians to go to Rafah because it was the only safe place, only to bomb their tents. It is the reason as of February 29th, 94 journalists in Gaza and the west bank have been killed and assassinated.
So, in terms of Israel having "sovereignty over a land", that land being Palestine, I think it is Israel's strategy ethnically cleansing the Palestinian people with 0 consequences, as we have already seen since October.
And in terms of how this "resonates with me", I think this is a very important subject to speak about, and to speak about in truth, not the propaganda coming out of the Israeli government and the United Sates government.
If the question is asking me if I think Zionism is a good thing or not, I think you can tell what my stance is on that by now.

Isreal was home to Jewish nomadic tribes from antiquity. Palestine (philistina) was labeled and formed under the Roman empire as an affront to northern (Israel) and southern (Juda) jewish kingdoms as a means to control them.
